General English B2 – Semi-Intensive (RAK Campus)

The General English B2 – Semi-Intensive course at our Ras Al Khaimah Campus is designed for learners who want to achieve greater fluency and confidence in English. At this level, students enhance their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills through practical, interactive lessons that include dedicated speaking activities to practise new vocabulary and grammar. Lessons cover real-life and engaging topics such as news, lifestyle, media, film, books, and culture.

Each skills-based lesson is supported by interactive speaking activities, giving students the opportunity to actively practise new vocabulary and grammar in meaningful contexts. With a strong emphasis on communication, students learn how to use English effectively in social, professional, and everyday situations.

The course aims to develop all four core language skills and help students gain the confidence to communicate in a variety of settings, including social, academic, and professional environments.

Aligned with the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference), the course typically requires 100–200 study hours to complete B2 (Upper-Intermediate) level.

Assessment & Progression

Student progress is monitored weekly through in-class feedback, helping learners focus on areas for improvement in a supportive, informal environment. Monthly CEFR-aligned level tests allow students to track their development. Students progress to the next level once they have successfully achieved the required learning objectives.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

• Reading: understand long and complex factual and literary texts, appreciate distinctions of style, and follow specialised articles and technical instructions, even outside their field.
• Writing: produce clear, well-structured texts expressing points of view at length, write about complex subjects in letters, essays, or reports, and select the appropriate style for the intended reader.
• Speaking: express themselves fluently and spontaneously, use language flexibly for social and professional purposes, formulate ideas with precision, relate contributions skilfully to others, and present clear, detailed descriptions of complex subjects with logical conclusions.
• Listening: understand extended speech even when not clearly structured, follow implied relationships, and comprehend television programmes and films without much effort.
