General English A2 – Semi-Intensive (RAK Campus)

The General English A2 – Semi-Intensive course at the Ras Al Khaimah Campus is designed for learners who want to build a solid foundation in everyday English and develop confidence in real-life communication. At this level, students strengthen their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills through engaging, practical lessons focused on familiar topics such as family, travel, shopping, and work.

Each skills-based lesson is supported by interactive speaking activities, giving students the opportunity to actively practise new vocabulary and grammar in meaningful contexts. With a strong emphasis on communication, students learn how to use English effectively in social, professional, and everyday situations.

The course aims to develop all four core language skills and help students gain the confidence to communicate in a variety of settings, including social, academic, and professional environments.

Aligned with the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference), this course typically requires 100–150 study hours to complete A2 (Elementary) level.

Assessment & Progression

Student progress is monitored weekly through in-class feedback, helping learners focus on areas for improvement in a supportive, informal environment. Monthly CEFR-aligned level tests allow students to track their development. Students progress to the next level once they have successfully achieved the required learning objectives.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

• Reading: understand short, simple texts and find specific information in everyday materials such as menus, advertisements, and timetables.
• Writing: produce short notes, messages, and simple personal letters.
• Speaking: communicate in routine situations, exchange basic information, and describe familiar topics such as family, work, and daily life.
• Listening: understand common phrases and key information related to personal needs, as well as the main points of short, clear messages.
